Current answer
Take the second-floor parasol, keep the crew tight, and protect its durability.
One parasol can cover a small group: one player carries it while teammates move just ahead inside the protected path. The same thread says the item has durability, so plan a short route and repair it before it completely breaks.
The parasol route is a multiplayer report with successful follow-up, not an official traversal tutorial. Treat spacing, coverage, and durability as mechanics to confirm in your own current build.
Low-risk route
Prepare at the Outpost before exposing the whole crew.
- 01
Collect the balcony parasol
The original crew reports finding one on the second-floor balcony. Patch 1.04 separately confirms that Vessels can stand on all balconies without taking fire damage.
- 02
Check durability first
If the parasol is already worn, use the reported second-floor repair-and-enchantment machine while it is still accepted. Do not assume a fully broken parasol can be recovered.
- 03
Assign one carrier
Keep the carrier steady while the rest of the crew moves just ahead instead of splitting into separate lanes. A player reports completing the crossing with one parasol for two people.
- 04
Cross in short legs
Choose the next safe position before leaving cover. Avoid exploratory detours that spend durability without advancing the route.
- 05
Return before it breaks
The source thread only suggests repair while durability remains. A crew that used its only parasol to total break reported being unable to continue with it.
The short-leg formation is a conservative way to apply the one-parasol report; exact protection radius and durability drain are not documented.
If the first parasol is gone
Murch may sell another—but the shop level remains unconfirmed.
One direct purchase report
One player says they bought a parasol spear from Murch for 300 Gold but did not know the required shop level.
Second-hand claim
Another reply only repeats that someone else said level six or higher. The original crew had Murch at level seven and still had not seen one.
Do not promise a refresh
The thread suggests competing shop items may affect what appears, but supplies no rotation rule or reset trigger.
Keep the team together
A second parasol is useful for splitting up, not required by the only successful group-traversal report reviewed here.
The exact Murch level, stock pool, refresh timing, and whether price varies by progression are not confirmed by an official source or a controlled test.
Clearing Grain Rot
A possessed flamethrower Vessel is the reported alternative tool.
A reply says to possess the small flamethrower Vessel with your Spark, extract while still possessing it, and bring that Vessel into the Outpost. The questioner then reports that this answered how to burn away the Grain Rot.
This is a separate objective from safely walking the Scorch. Confirm that the elevator accepts the possessed Vessel, preserve enough Spark time to extract, and do not assume every fire-blocked object uses the same interaction.
Official boundary
Patch 1.04 makes balconies safe; it does not certify the whole route.
The official patch note says Vessels can be on all balconies without taking fire damage. The store and release announcement also establish a highly flammable world and two new 1.0 biomes.
No reviewed official source names the Scorch traversal item, confirms its protection radius, publishes durability values, or documents the flamethrower-Vessel solution.
