Repair & Enchantment Machine Guide

The machine is officially part of 1.0. Its location, price, valid-item behavior, and enchantment tradeoff are currently documented by players.

Current answer

Use the second-floor machine before a valuable item reaches zero durability.

100 Gold is the current player-reported cost. Players say the machine restores a valid item to full while also enchanting it—but a newer report says that process changes the existing enchantment rather than preserving it.

VERIFIED MECHANIC

The full-release announcement explicitly lists an Enchantment & Repair Machine and the second floor of the Outpost as 1.0 content.

PLAYER EVIDENCE

The second-floor location, 100 Gold price, full repair, valid-item restriction, and enchantment-changing behavior come from current community reports, not an official in-game manual or patch note.

Safe use sequence

Inspect the item, budget the cost, then decide whether the enchantment is expendable.

  1. 01

    Reach the second floor

Players place the machine upstairs. If that floor is not available in your Outpost, continue the main Outpost progression before searching for a buildable Construct.

  2. 02

    Check remaining durability

Do not deliberately break the item first. The reviewed reports only support repairing an item that the machine still accepts as valid.

  3. 03

    Read the current enchantment

If the item already has an effect you rely on, record it before paying. One player specifically reports that repair-through-enchanting changes the existing enchantment.

  4. 04

    Bring 100 Gold

This is the reported use price in both a repair thread and a separate Steam combat discussion. Confirm the amount shown by your current build before committing.

  5. 05

    Verify the result

Compare durability and enchantment before and after. A full bar with a different enchantment is consistent with the reviewed player reports.

Decision rule

Repair value and enchantment value are two different costs.

Repair now

Low durability, replaceable enchant

The reported full repair is useful when losing or changing the current enchantment would not hurt the build.

Wait

Strong enchant, enough durability

Keep using or store the item until you can tolerate a reroll; the source set does not show a preserve-enchantment switch.

Test cheap

Unknown item category

Try a lower-value example first instead of risking the crew's only important weapon or traversal tool.

Do not break

Near zero durability

The reviewed evidence does not show that a completely broken item remains eligible for the machine.

TACTICAL INTERPRETATION

This decision rule is a risk-control strategy built from the reported behavior. It is not an official list of accepted items or enchantment odds.

Common dead ends

Do not hunt for a craftable repair bench just because the machine is upstairs.

  • The original repair question came from players who had already unlocked every Construct, which argues against the answer being a missing build recipe.
  • Murch's dialogue about repair is not a reproducible interaction in the reviewed sources.
  • One player tested Healing Glue on an unspecified item and reported that it did not repair it. That is useful negative evidence, not a universal item rule.
NOT YET CONFIRMED

No reviewed official source publishes the valid-item list, exact enchantment pool, reroll odds, fully broken item behavior, or a way to repair while preserving an enchantment.
