Threat-response hub

Enemies & Combat Strategy

A decision-first combat hub built from official encounter scope, a developer-endorsed demo VOD, and current player discussions—not an invented all-enemy database.

Current answer

Avoidance is a valid combat decision; direct damage is only one tool.

Route around threats when the room offers space. If an enemy blocks the objective, use knockdown, possessed Vessels, traps, cliffs, ranged tools, or light management before risking the crew's primary Vessel in a damage race.

VERIFIED MECHANIC

The 1.0 release list confirms new enemies, a boss, elite encounters, Spark abilities, new items, and balance work. It does not publish enemy HP, damage, spawn tables, or official counter sheets.

Decision ladder

Spend the cheapest advantage first.

  1. 01

    Route around it

One solo player recommends crouching and circumnavigating threats. If the enemy does not control the fuse, elevator, or only exit, survival is worth more than an unnecessary kill.

  2. 02

    Create knockdown

Players report that sprint dropkicks and a fully charged goat Vessel can knock enemies down. Use the opening to escape or reposition instead of assuming a stun lock is guaranteed.

  3. 03

    Use the room

Kick or bait enemies toward crushers, cliffs, spring traps, and explosive hazards. Confirm your own escape lane before triggering anything.

  4. 04

    Change bodies

A player reports using a flamethrower Vessel for damage and a drum-playing monkey Vessel for distraction. Possession can change the problem without spending the main body.

  5. 05

    Commit ranged resources

Nail guns are repeatedly recommended in the solo thread, but availability and upgrades vary. Save scarce weapons for blocked objectives or extraction pressure.

TACTICAL INTERPRETATION

This ladder minimizes irreversible loss. It is a tactical synthesis of player reports, not a universal order for every biome, modifier, boss, or elite.

Video field manual

Jump directly to the threat or mechanic you need.

The developer recommended creator partner Jem's video for basic mechanics and monster strategies. It is a Demo-era video, so use it for visual recognition and tactical ideas—not launch-patch stats.

PLAYER EVIDENCE

Chapter labels such as “Club,” “Crawler,” and “Ghost” come from the creator's own video description. This page does not promote them into an official launch bestiary.

Spark survival

Light and utility matter after the wooden body breaks.

  • Alternate lights: the endorsed VOD includes a dedicated section on moving between lights to preserve the Spark.
  • Trigger hazards: one Steam player reports using Spark charge to activate traps and radiators against enemies.
  • Possess for purpose: choose a utility Vessel for fire, distraction, or movement rather than treating every available body as a straight damage upgrade.
  • Keep an exit: a tactic that kills an enemy but strands the Spark away from light or the elevator is not a successful trade.

Respawn boundary

Do not plan on permanently clearing a floor.

PLAYER EVIDENCE

Several players in one five-reply thread say defeated enemies respawn, sometimes quickly and sometimes as a different enemy.

SOURCES CONFLICT

One reply also says enemies may despawn after a long period without encountering a player. There is no timer, controlled test, or official rule, so “respawn” is useful planning advice but not a published formula.

What this page will not invent

Names and numbers need stronger evidence.

NOT YET CONFIRMED

No reviewed official source provides a complete launch enemy roster, exact health, damage, aggro range, respawn timer, biome table, boss phases, or guaranteed stun durations. Community numerical claims are excluded until they can be reproduced against a named patch.
